My son got his high school diploma from James Madison HS online. He dropped out of the local high school in the 8th grade and I dont understand how he took a simple test online, sent in 200 dollars and recieved a diploma with a 3.0 gpa. The school claims to be accredited. How is this possible.

I’ve never ever heard of an online High School. You could call your states board of education and ask if they accept them as a ligit organization. I don’t believe any diploma is legit unless it goes though your town or your states schooling system and is accepted by them. Even kids who are home schooled still go through local education authorities to make the work they do count.
There is a real online high school called James Madison High School. However, obtaining a high school diploma through them is a lot harder than paying $200 and taking one test. The least expensive option is their 16 course track and I believe that is closer to $2,000. Are you sure he didn’t just get a certificate for a single course? If I’m not mistaken, a single course costs $295.
A high school diploma from James Madison High School is a legitimate diploma. JMHS is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).http://www.sacscasi.org/schools/Proceediā¦
The website for James Madison High School is http://www.jmhs.com orhttp://www.jmhsonline.com
Sounds fishy to me. See if the department of education in your state or the state where the school operates is accredited. Don’t take the school’s word for it.
